River Oaks' small art spectacle returns for 2024. The 9th Annual 5x5x5 highlights a remarkably fascinating showing of miniature works from artists across the U.S. Guest Juror for the 2024 exhibition is artist and educator, Ted Barnes. River Oaks is inviting all visual artists to participate in this annual miniature feature. The 5x5x5 Show is a signature event for the Arts Center, allowing patrons to purchase unique, original works of art for holiday gifting or as additions to their expanding collections. Guest Juror - Ted Barnes A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Ted Barnes received his M.F.A. in painting from the University of Arkansas in 1979, he received his M.A.in art education in 1977 from Western Kentucky University and his B.A. in studio art from Ouachita Baptist University in 1972. He began his teaching career at Campbellsville College in 1979 and for thirty-seven years he was a teacher and administrator at Ouachita Baptist University, Louisiana College, Georgetown College and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He is now retired as the Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts and Professor of Visual Art from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. In 1994 he was a visiting scholar in art at Regent’s Park College, Oxford University, Oxford, England. He is an active visual artist who has exhibited in more than seventy solo and group exhibitions, both regionally and nationally. His artwork draws from a number of influences, combining a search for spiritual truth and paradox using modernism, baseball, advertising design, vernacular signage, religious icons and pop-culture ephemera as visual imagery. His latest work is specifically interested in the theme of pilgrimage.
